# Important - read this first!

Localcredit is currently in early development (MVP stage as of January 2026).\
\
Localcredit is a privacy-first, decentralized credit reputation oracle that lets your financial reliability travel with you across borders, chains, apps, and life changes. Unlike traditional credit bureaus or over-collateralized DeFi, Localcredit:

* Is user-controlled and portable
* Uses zero-knowledge proofs so no personal data is stored or shared
* Works across on-chain activity and optional real-world signals
* Remains neutral, we don’t lend, we only provide verifiable scores

Whether you're a digital nomad, migrant worker, DeFi native, or someone with strong traditional credit, Localcredit turns your responsible behavior into a global trust signal.\

**A note about these documents:**\
This documentation reflects the current vision, design, and planned functionality for the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and upcoming Beta release. While the core principles privacy-first design, portable reputation, zero-knowledge proofs, and neutrality are firmly established and will not change, many details are still work in progress. Many aspects on these documents are updated regularly without notice. \
\
**What This Means for You:**

* Features will evolve: Scoring weights, exact booster impacts, API endpoints, and UI flows are subject to refinement based on testing, user feedback, and governance decisions.
* Beta limitations: Not all described integrations (e.g., certain traditional credit bureaus, full cross-chain support, or every verification provider) may be live at launch. We will roll them out progressively.
* Security priority: All smart contracts and critical infrastructure will undergo independent audits before mainnet deployment. No user funds are at risk — Localcredit never custodies assets. The initial contracts may not be auidited professionally by third-parties but using automated or internal services.
* Community-driven: As a decentralized oracle, future improvements (new data sources, weight adjustments, tokenomics tweaks) will be proposed by the community and in some instances voted on.
* Token: The $CREDIT token powers our product and its a pure utility token. We make no guarantees or forward looking statements on the tokens success. $CREDIT its a pure utility play, and requires adoption for meaningful growth.

We are building Localcredit openly and transparently. We see this as the missing link in DeFi which opens the door to countless products. Your early feedback and involvement whether as a user, lender, or builder directly shapes the protocol.\
\
Thank you for joining us at this stage. Together, we’re creating the trust primitive the global economy has been missing.\
